The Only Hope For Relationships
No doubt relationships are most important to us; we hope for relationships that satisfy. We don’t like doing anything alone and if we do something alone that is worthwhile what is the first thing we want to do? Tell someone about it right. Could you enjoy being successful in this world if no one knew about it… of course not, that would never appeal to the nature of man. Could you enjoy riches if you had to live on an uninhabited island in order to obtain it? Of course not…
Try to have a successful relationship with someone while breaking God’s laws against them and you’ll find it impossible. You can’t have a good relationship with anyone while you’re breaking laws against them. Christ is the hope for relationships and His word is the power to keep and maintain them both now and for eternity. Are you seeking stability in your relationship? Here is how:
God did all these things for us (life, laws that maintain life) to restore our relationship with Him, and one another. What are you doing to restore your relationship with others?
God’s intention is to restore our relationship with him and others. We originally had a perfect relationship with him but we turned from him to gain hidden knowledge and what did that do for us; It turned Adam and Eve from one another and we know that relationships have never been right since the fall of mankind in the garden.
We fell out of relationship with God and then with one another. The reason why evolution is ridiculous is because it could not be that we evolved into better relationship with one another our relationships on earth have become worse and worse as time has progressed and if they started bad we would have killed and finished off the human race already. But relationships started out perfect on this earth and they have weakened and gotten worse year after year.
You can see humanities selfishness as Adam and Eve turned against one another and began blaming one another as soon as they went against the word of God in Eden.
WE ARE BROKEN PEOPLE SEPARATED FROM LIFE RELATIONSHIPS AND ONLY RETURNING TO A REAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD CAN WE REALLY EXPERIENCE SATISFYING LIFE RELATIONSHIPS WITH ONE ANOTHER.
People think they are rejecting religion when they reject God they are not rejecting religion merely but they are rejection the only hope for real relationships. Real satisfying relationships can only occur when God implants in man right thoughts and motives and then men are not bound to selfish thoughts and lusts but will love purity. What is the catalyst for experiencing real satisfying relationships? It is the principles established in the moral law which God promise to place in the heart of man as he trusts in God’s power to do for him what he can not do in his own strength.
God set the standard for relationship in 10 commandments and if Americans did the things in the law then the rarest experience in the nation would be divorce instead of it being common. Through covenant with God in keeping his principles divorce would become extinct. But because we have turned from God in living vital experience with him our homes are broken in America. If you seek to be restored then let the schoolmaster (the law) lead you to Christ and you will not be unsatisfied.
“If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” In the religious services of the Jews the priest performed the ceremony which commemorated the smiting of the rock in the wilderness. That rock was a symbol of Him who by His death would cause living streams of salvation to flow to all who are athirst. Christ’s words were the water of life. There in the presence of the assembled multitude He set Himself apart to be smitten, that the water of life might flow to the world.
In smiting Christ, Satan thought to destroy the Prince of life; but from the smitten rock there flowed living water. As Jesus thus spoke to the people, their hearts thrilled with a strange awe, and many were ready to exclaim, with the woman of Samaria, “Give me this water, that I thirst not.” John 4:15. {DA 454.1}
Jesus knew the wants of the soul. Pomp, riches, and honor cannot satisfy the heart. “If any man thirst, let him come unto Me.” The rich, the poor, the high, the low, are alike welcome. He promises to relieve the burdened mind, to comfort the sorrowing, and to give hope to the despondent. Many of those who heard Jesus were mourners over disappointed hopes, many were nourishing a secret grief, many were seeking to satisfy their restless longing with the things of the world and the praise of men; but when all was gained, they found that they had toiled only to reach a broken cistern, from which they could not quench their thirst. Amid the glitter of the joyous scene they stood, dissatisfied and sad. That sudden cry, “If any man thirst,” startled them from their sorrowful meditation, and as they listened to the words that followed, their minds kindled with a new hope. The Holy Spirit presented the symbol before them until they saw in it the offer of the priceless gift of salvation. {DA 454.2}
The cry of Christ to the thirsty soul is still going forth, and it appeals to us with even greater power than to those who heard it in the temple on that last day of the feast. The fountain is open for all. The weary and exhausted ones are offered the refreshing draught of eternal life. Jesus is still crying, “If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink.” “Let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” “Whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.” Revelation 22:17; John 4:14. {DA 454.3}
If you are thirsting for a real relationship it has to start with you. Everyone is looking for the right person and there are just a few of those out there but by the grace and power of God you can be one of those right persons that anyone would love to meet. What is a right person, well they are the person you can trust with your wallet on the table the first time you meet them. They won’t violate the 8th commandment: Thou shalt not steal. You can trust them with your sister for they will not break the 7th commandment: Thou shalt not commit adultery. God says “for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. 1 Samuel 2:30”.
If you choose to honor God by keeping His words and doing His commandments He will honor you by strengthening your character, empowering your life, filling you with a dignity you have never before possessed, and meeting your needs. God’s says in regarding his command to tithe: “…prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts. Malachi 3:10-11”. It may be late in the season, you may should have got some things done long ago but with God’s blessing your vine shall not cast her fruit before the time so trust God and walk in his ways.
