How to Overcome Sin, Temptation, and Oppression

We are going to look at three ways to overcome Satan and the distressing ways that demons seek to use in oppressing people. First we need to know that this life on earth is a battle and when we give our lives to Christ we become a target for Satan which is why we need the protecting covering of God which He is unable to penetrate. New Christians are a high profile target because Satan doesn’t even want to allow any growth to begin with them.

Here are three ways the bible says you overcome Satan in one verse: “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11″.

1.. The blood of the Lamb: You need to familiarize yourself with the power of the blood of the Lamb. It is by the blood that we draw near to God. It is by that blood that we have the legal right to enter into the very presence of the Creator. And it is the Spirit of God that makes effectual what Christ has accomplished by the blood. It is the Holy Spirit that convicts, impresses our minds, softens our hearts, develops our character, regenerates and makes us whole and reveals to us the mysteries of the gospel. The Spirit of God and the blood work together for our redemption.

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; Ephesians 1:7.”

2. The Word of their testimony: Sharing our testimony of what God has done to save us and deliver us encourages others that they too can overcome. Another powerful testimony besides Rodger Morneau’s Trip into the Supernatural on overcoming demons is the Pineapple Story by the missionary Otto Koning you can find it on you tube.

3. They loved not their lives unto the death. We cannot be afraid to lay down our lives. We have God’s promise that He will save us and deliver us but if He calls us to a special work that includes dying then He will empower us to do so with courage when the time arrives. We have to learn to trust in Him. He is so trustworthy. He has never, ever failed anyone who has put their trust in Him. He has delivered me over and over again in situations which there was no way I was getting out of trouble and Jesus will keep on delivering those who love Him. The bible says it this way:

It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.   They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.  Lamentations 3:22-3
